MORE INFOTom and Barbara Salter currently reside in Antelope, CA. Tom has recently conducted interim ministries for churches that are "in-between" pastors. To this point he has conducted interim pastorates in Oroville, Pleasant Hill, Citrus Heights, Woodland and Arbuckle -- all cities in northern California. In addition, he has preached at many churches throughout California. Prior to their move to the Sacramento area, Tom and Barbara had a productive eight and a half year ministry with Tahoe Christian Center. Previously, he pastored three other churches altogether since 1970, and is also a co-founder of Christian Encounter Ministries, in Grass Valley, California.

While Tom was in Klamath Falls, the pastors began to regularly pray together, and experienced a much greater degree of unity and cooperation. Klamath Evangelical Alliance was established, and among other projects, Tom helped organize four prayer summits for local pastors. While in the midst of his ministry, in 1990, through enduring some difficult ministry turmoil, God imparted a clear call to his heart to encourage pastors. The call to Tahoe Christian Center included a call to form "Barnabas Factor", a ministry of support and encouragement for pastors.
Housing has been arranged for pastors to come and spend up to a week in beautiful Lake Tahoe. And now, with selected dates, a retreat center has been made available, able to house entire pastoral staffs, parachurch organizations, or specific groups of pastors. God has taught Tom many truths for pastors, and it is normal to get together with visiting pastors, when they visit Tahoe. Tom usually shares a single message with pastors in retreat, and has lectured future pastors at William Jessup University. Tom stands ready to be a "Barnabas" to other pastors, and often contacts pastors as God leads. Barnabas Factor is now a member of "Care Givers Forum", a nation-wide coalition of ministries offering help and encouragement to pastors and their families.
Training international pastors is now a major focus for Barnabas Factor. Over the past ten years, we've trained close to 10,000 pastors in Africa and Asia.
Tom has a B.A. in Pastoral Ministries from San Jose Christian College, and an M.A. in New Testament from Lincoln Christian Seminary in Illinois. The Salters have been married over fifty years, and have two grown daughters, Amy and Elissa, and a Toy Fox Terrier named Bogey.
